Deciding on the event that you wish to propose at can be nerve-wracking. Your kids may be able to come up with some ideas. Perhaps dinner at home, or dinner at your favorite restaurant? Maybe somewhere more family oriented would be a good idea? What about a party to celebrate your love for each other? Your kids will probably want to be around for the big proposal and announcement, so try to think of something that is suitable for them to attend too.

Of course, the proposal itself will be a very special occasion. Even though you know it’s coming, it can be quite overwhelming emotionally. You may want to prepare the things you want to say in advance. Some brief words of love and commitment are always welcomed. To make it a truly special occasion, you may want to dress up. Your best outfit will be perfect for any selfies you want to take. Perhaps the children can dress up too? Think about those extra special touches you can bring to the occasion. You may want the proposal to be a big surprise. Whether you’re a parent or not, when kids are involved, it’s important that they are OK with any family decisions. Some children are better at keeping secrets than others! It’s up to you if you want them to be surprised or part of the surprise. Without their acceptance, it can be tough to pursue a marriage. If you’re hoping to surprise everyone, try to include the kids in a positive way. Sometimes you need to ask them too.
