As summer comes to a close, it’s starting to sink in that Jayden will officially be in grade 5 and turning 10 years old! Although I’ve sent him off to school many times before, it really doesn’t get any easier.

Each year, there are different aspects to worry about. One of those things is making sure he is confident in the person he is becoming.

5 Ways To Build Confidence In Your Child With Carter’s | OshKosh

Give Praise

Give praise when praise is due. Has your child helped around the house without you asking or given you a hand carrying in the groceries? Let them know you appreciate them.

Let them make their own choices

As the years go by and your child starts to become their own person, allow them to make their own decisions. Yes, even if it means that they have to learn from their mistakes. I know, I know, easier said than done. It can be as easy as having them pick their own clothes while back to school shopping!
Carter’s | OshKosh is a great resource for all your back-to- school shopping needs, including Private/Catholic school uniforms, stylish graphic tees. Just look at super cool “nothing but net” graphic tee Jayden picked.
Letting them make their own decisions will eventually pay off in their adult life!.

Don’t Compare

The saying “don’t have favorites” when talking about your children reigns true. Don’t compare your child/children to anybody else. Instead, encourage them to be the best version of themselves.

Assign Chores

Yes, it’s true. Your child needs an opportunity to display and increase their feelings of competency.
Last but not least,

Love them

More often than not, your son or daughter wants to be told: “I Love You”. Words of affirmation are a must while raising your child. I tell Jayden I love him everyday and I think he’s pretty darn confident!

Building confidence gets tougher as the years go by. Your child becomes a little bit more distant and less reliant. They slowly grow out of the baby that you remember and into this confident person.

Which means that I have to continue to trust that I am raising to make the right decisions; even when I’m not available.

  1. I love this list of ways to build confidence. I never thought of chores as a way to do this, but think it’s a great idea. And of course letting them know we love them is crucial.

This is so good. All really good tips! I just started giving my son little chores around the house and he’s actually loving the responsibilities

I love these, especially the don’t compare one! It’s so hard not to compare kids and think someone is doing better or worse but encouraging them is definitely the way to go!
