Harrison Hot Springs

It was all laughs and smiles two weekends ago, when myself and a few of my gal pals (new and old) went for a quick getaway trip to Harrison Hot Springs.

I’ll be honest here, when I found out what how long we would be staying (24 hours) I thought to myself “What are we to do, in such a short period of time?!”. Well, Connie, from Modern Mama and Harrison Hot Springs Resort showed me exactly what could be accomplished. Are you ready? because here we go.

Shoreline Tours

T’was a weekend of many firsts for me and it started off with the two hour boat ride hosted by shoreline tours.  We hopped onto the Laroan and explored Harrison Lake.

During this two-hour tour, the Laroan charts a course along the lake’s west side, floating past the green waters of Echo Bay, the towering rock formations of Echo Island, and the cold cascades of Rainbow Falls. The tour includes light commentary, food and beverage options, and concludes with a cruise past Sasquatch Provincial Park. Get more details here.

Harrison Hot Spring Resort

Another first for this mama, staying at Harrison Hot Spring Resort. Not only is Harrison Hot Springs Resort the only hotel that has full access to the Hot Springs, they offer a variety of accommodations to their guest.

Tamara of Discovering Parenthood and I roomed together. We stayed at one of the cozy cottages located on the private lawns of Miami River. All the cottages feature a spacious bedroom with a queen-sized bed, bathroom, plus a separate living room with a gas fireplace and single size sofabed. The cottages also include a beverage cooler, TV with cable and hotel robes!

Shout out to Tamara for graciously giving this pregnant mama the queen sized bed, you’re the best <3

Places to Eat

Again, another first for this mama bear. Eating at all the local restaurants. I literally ate all the food my heart desired and then some!  All the restaurants that hosted us during our 24 hour stay were:

Breakfast

Lakeside Cafe

The café is located inside Harrison Hot Springs Resort. You will not regret enjoying the breakfast buffet!

Lunch

Harrison Corner Cafe

True to its name, the café is located on the corner of Hot Springs Road. We all ordered the Fish & Chips (highly recommended!)

Dinner

The Hungry Chef

After our photo-shoot (see below), we were famished from all the posing 😛 Baby and I enjoyed the baked Mac & Cheese. He was dancing the whole time during dinner,  he must of enjoyed it as much as I did.

Strike a Pose

One of the activities I helped organize was the photo shoot. I work with photographers on a regular basis (for my blog) and often get asked how my photos are so “perfect”. Well, first, they aren’t. Investing in a professional photographer or a DSLR really makes your blog/social media stand out. They are trained to capture you at your best so why not let them? I will be touching more on this subject in the near future.

Vanessa from Vanessa Marie Studios, agreed to meet us at Harrison lake front to snap photos of the six of us during sunset. The photos turned out beautiful (as to be expected when you work with a professional photographer!). Kudos to her for being forty weeks pregnant and still holding a camera.

Thank you Vanessa!

Relaxation Time

After a full day of exploring, my feet and back were aching. Thankfully the ladies convinced me to soak in the Hot Springs before I headed to bed. Let me tell ya, the soak was well worth it. I went to bed feeling rejuvenated. I slept like a baby and didn’t hear a beep. This quick getaway trip was exactly what this mama needed.

Have you ever visited Harrison Hot Springs? Have you stayed at Harrison Hot Springs Resort? Let me know in the comments!

Disclaimer:A big thanks to Harrison Hot Springs Resort for hosting us for the weekend and to Connie from Start Up moms for organizing the retreat! All opinions are my own.
