Recently, I’ve been on a journey to rediscover myself again. After having Abel, I found it hard for me to be “me” , especially these last 8 months. The past 8 months have changed my life in so many ways and instead of staying in the depressed state that I was in, I decided to take control. 

First step of taking control is accepting the changes that are going on around you. Don’t fight them. Even if all you want to do is kick and scream, at some point, you have to take control of your own destiny !

1. Enjoy The View  

In Vancouver, there are so many gorgeous places to visit, all you have to do is to take time to find them. My most recent discovery was a hidden quarry in North Vancouver , that was  so breathtakingly beautiful,  I was in that moment reminded of how truly blessed I am to live here.

2. Take Up A Hobby

I was so consumed in my day to day routine, that I forgot about me. I picked up the Canon- that was sitting on my dresser collecting dust- and I started learning how to use it. With a little help from youtube, I learned how to take photos of my children enjoying our outings in the city

3. Take a day off or if you’re a mom, call in your reinforcements 

I remember someone telling me that they didn’t have time to take a day off because they were too “busy”. At first, I was surprised, but quickly realized that this person needed to rediscover themselves, much like  the journey I was in. We forget that, like a battery on a cellphone, we need to recharge our mind, body and soul. It is easy to forget but you must always make time for yourself.

4. Schedule A Night Out 

Whether it be with your friends or alone, Vancouver has  so many incredible options to pick from ! Here are just some of my faves – Paint Night, Bowling, Dinner, Movies, Walk the Seawall, Grouse Grind (not actually my fav but I will do it :P), Richmond Night Market, Celebration of Lights, Stanley Park, Aquariam, Science World. The list is endless.

5. Pamper Yourself With A Hotel Stay At A Radisson – Alone
