Introducing New Flavours With Gerber Baby | Gerber Organic Purees With Smart Flow

Raise your hand if your child loves to eat!!  And no, I’m not talking about Abel, LOL (but he can enjoy these too). The Gerber Organic Puree Smart Flow delivers less mess, less waste and more nutrients right into your baby’s tummy.

As most of you know, I’m constantly searching for the next new trend so that I can share it with you guys!  I love anything that makes my beautiful chaos a bit easier.

I hire a cleaner to help “reset” our home, order my groceries online and call on my family and friends to come over when I need a “mommy time out”.

Most importantly, I ensure that the boys are getting everything they need and more.

About Gerber Organic Purees With Smart Flow

The Gerber Organic Purees has a resealable packaging that is great for on the go moms like me! It is small enough to fit into my diaper bag, yet big enough for Isaiah to feed himself.

With a “Smart Flow” top and transparent packaging, you can see what you are feeding your baby. Which I personally love, because I’m all about visuals.

There’s nothing worse than having to guess what is going to come out.

Another great thing about the transparent packaging is that your baby can also see what they are about to eat. I take this time to “explain” to Isaiah whats inside and how yummy it’s going to be for him.

Although he doesn’t one understand I word I say (well, at least not yet), he smiles and listens intently!

Other Product Benefits

  • Smart Flow is great because it prevents a mess
  • Comes in 15 Organic Flavours
  • Organic and Non-GMO
  • No Added Suger or salt
  • No Artificial Flavours or colours
  • Recommended for children 6 months and older

Introducing New Flavours With Gerber Organic Puree

Isaiah is at the age where he loves to explore. His sensory play is developing so quickly and so is his love for food. This little babe loves to taste everything he can.

The Gerber Organic Puree comes in 15 different flavours.

His favorites are the Mango Apple Carrot Kale, Apple Kale Fig, and Banana Beet Pomegranate. Yum!

If your baby is ready to explore different taste and you don’t know where to start. Pick up a few of the Gerber Organic Purees at your local supermarket.

Potty Training a Stubborn Child With Kandoo Flushable Wipes

We all have one or have at least met one.  A stubborn toddler who thinks the words “No” is a suggestion that doesn’t need to be acknowledged. Raising a stubborn child comes with its challenges! Especially when it comes to potty training.

Kandoo Flushable Wipes are here to help make potty training a stubborn child easier.

Potty Training a Stubborn Child With Kandoo Flushable Wipes

I’m always so embarrassed to say that my three-year-old son is still NOT potty trained. I’ve tried everything – treats, incentives, prizes, charts, nothing is good enough to convince this stubborn child of mine that using the potty is a necessary rite of passage.

Here’s why

We were doing great and I was seeing the light last year with potty training. However, after Isaiah was born, he regressed. It wasn’t much of a surprise, but I didn’t expect it to be that bad. Potty training went out the window and that was the end of that.

I’ve heard it all.

“My two-year-old son is already potty trained!”

“You just need to do it already!” or the best one yet…

“What’s wrong with him?”.

If you don’t have a stubborn child, then you don’t understand the struggle. But if you do, we stand united.

Benefits Of Kandoo Flushable Wipes

Kandoo Flushable Wipes are a handy helper for your little one when they are just starting to master using the toilet.

  • They clean up to 30% better than regular toilet paper.
  • Dispense easily with a push of a button from the pop-up tub
  • Are the perfect size for little hands
  • Flush friendly (biodegradable)
  • Available in Sensitive (unscented and hypoallergenic) and Magic Melon (scented and hypoallergenic). As well as in soft on-the-go packs and reusable refillable tubs.

I personally like to throw them in my diaper bag because I can use them on the go to wipe off the boys’ dirty little hands as well.

Potty Training this Summer with Kandoo Flushable Wipes

A year has come and gone. It’s time to quit this charade and go “cold turkey” as they say. I’ve been doing my research online and have a plan to get him potty trained before I go back to work in September.

Here are a few helpful tips that I will be following:

Give yourself a pep talk
Take away all the diapers
We are saying bye bye to them!
Stock up on all the supplies
Here is where Kandoo Flushable Wipes come in handy
3day home rule
I may go a bit stir crazy. However, it must be done.
Up the stakes
No iPad (his favourite)
Every 25 minutes he’s on the toilet for at least 5 minutes.

Don’t forget to laugh!

That’s it, guys! I don’t know how I will get through it, but  I trust in my abilities and cannot wait to have Kandoo Flushable Wipes on hand to help make it a bit easier.

Make sure to send me all your positive vibes!

Newborn Photos by Julie Christine Photography | Isaiah’s Birth Story

So guess who finally made time to post Isaiah’s newborn photos by Julie Christine Photography and his birth story? ME ME ME!

It’s been 10 months since Isaiah has been born and life has been so busy. But SO so so good.

Isaiah brings so much life and happiness into our home. I can’t believe that he’ll be 1 years old next month!

Isaiah’s Newborn Photos by Julie Christine Photography

First, I want to give a HUGE shout out to my girl Julie from Julie Christine Photography for taking Isaiah’s Newborn Photos.

We had initially planned for him to be a bit younger but Isaiah decided to come three weeks early. Him showing up early put a damper on our plan but thankfully Julie was able to rearrange her schedule to come to my home.

Scroll down for his newborn photos. I just can’t deal!

Isaiah’s Birth Story

Similar to the other two labors, Isaiah came fast and furious. This time, however, he came three weeks early.

To begin this story, I wanted to take to share the emotions that I was feeling leading up to my due date.

The entire time I was pregnant with Isaiah I was terrified of labour.

For more insight read the post below:

Why going through labour the third time isn’t a charm

I cried (ok maybe whined) every week thinking about going through labour. Unfortunately, I was traumatized by Abel’s birth that all I could think was”what if this, what if that”.

I even considered scheduling a c-section to avoid labour pains at all costs. Thankfully, I voiced my concerns with my GP who gave me other options to reduce pain and to help me through the whole process.

The Plan

Knowing that I have short and extremely intense labours, we were preparing for Isaiah to come sooner rather than later. Plus Isaiah is my third wild card baby!! Anything can happen.

My last check up appointment was on Wednesday, July 19. At that appointment, there were no signs of labour, Isaiah was head down but no movement. I had just finished working the Friday before, so I was thankful to have three weeks to spend with the older boys. Our whole summer was planned for my August 12 due date.

Or so I thought.

The next morning, I went to visit my mom and have her make me some breakfast. I was at the point of my pregnancy that doing anything was a chore. We also had a playdate planned near her place.

At that point, everything seemed right on schedule until I got up from her kitchen chair and felt like I peed my pants. Of course, I didn’t think anything of it because it wasn’t a gush of water. It literally felt like a small trickle so I thought I peed my pants and was like eh whatever.

I drove to the park and that’s when things started to get interesting.

We went to the park and played for a bit and all of a sudden, a felt some more pee (at this point you figured out it wasn’t pee). It kept happening for about an hour. Needless to say, I had to cut our playdate short and I headed to the washroom at the park to check what was going on.

My underwear was soak and it WASNT pee.

Yes, I freaked out.  My due date wasn’t for another three weeks and was not prepped for Isaiah to come!

SO, I called my mom and told her I was on my way back to her place because I think my water broke. Her reaction “Are you serious? Come home now mija.”

I did.

Then I called Miguel and asked him if he was busy at work or if he thought he could come home. He asked me what was wrong and I proceeded to tell him that I thought my water broke, but I wasn’t sure and that it was probably nothing. His response “I’m coming home right now.”.

Still, I was in denial that this was all happening and told both him, my mom, and my sister that it was probably nothing.

I drove to my moms and waited for Miguel call to grab him from the Skytrain station. About 40 mins later, I went to grab Miguel and then drove home to take a shower. He asked if I was sure and I told him yes.

I took a shower, took my sweet ass time to grab my things and told him to head to Mcdonalds. Yes, I wanted to eat a good meal before because I was hungry. Priorities.

We show up at the hospital, check in and we head to labour and delivery.

Still no contractions, but the nurse confirms that my water did in fact break and that they weren’t sending me home.

Finally, reality started to set in that I wasn’t going home and that I was having a baby.

Cue the panic and the tears.

Thankfully, my GP was the delivery doctor on call. She calmed me down and told me not to worry because we had a plan. That just so happens that we would execute it three weeks earlier than expected.

Labour & Delivery

It was 6 hours after my water broke that they decided to induce me. I wasn’t dilating and my water was broken for too long without any progress.

I never been induced and was terrified, but it was ok because being induced was part of my labour plan.

See being induced would help with pain management (which didn’t happen with Abel because I laboured so quickly) hence being traumatized. But first, they were going to give me the epidural to help.

This was also a first for me because, with Jay & Abel, I did not get the epidural.

Once they got the epidural going, I started the drip and I slept. I woke up and felt pressure to push which was a couple hours later.

A couple pushes and Isaiah was born.

Even when it came time to push, I was still in denial and told my GP no that I was ok and didn’t want to. LOL.

Literally, that’s how it happened. I had contractions but the pain was bearable and I was relaxed. There was no rushing, no urgency, no beeping, no swearing, no screaming just serenity. Miguel was even watching NBA highlights on his phone -.-

The whole labour process with Isaiah was completely different from my other two deliveries. Isaiah has been such a blessing and is such a great baby. He has his moments but I just remember how lucky we are to have him and how easy his labour was.

My Freshly Picked Diaper Bag Review

I bought my Freshly Picked Diaper Bag back in August 2017 when they launched their Kickstarter campaign. I waited three months before I got my hands on my bag and it’s been 7 months since I’ve received it.

To start, I wanted to let everyone know that this post is not sponsored!  I purchased this bag with my own hard earned money and simply wanted to share my thoughts on the diaper bag since it has officially made its way into Canada. PLUS,  I keep getting asked about it.

Receipts below:

Freshly Picked Diaper Bag Review

I have owned the Lily Jade as well as the Fawn Design Diaper bags. Both great diaper bag options.

It’s been about 3 years since I owned the Lily Jade and 2 years since I owned the Fawn Design. I still have both hanging in my closet, however, the zipper on my Fawn kept coming off and I was tired of fixing it. Lily Jade strap started to fray after some wear and tear (its been through two different owners and back to me) so I don’t blame it.

You can find my Lily Jade below:

Lily Jade Diaper, Diaper Bag For the Modern Mama

Back to the Freshly Picked diaper bag.

First, love the design, love the colour options and really love that it is a backpack style. I own the “Butterscotch” Colour.

Pros:

  • Vegan Leather
  • Great quality
  • you can wear it three ways ( I prefer the backpack way for handsfree)
  • 100% wipeable and spill resistant interior and exterior
  • Magnetic front flap
  • Metal “feet” on the bottom so your bag so doesn’t touch the ground
  • Comes with a changing Pad
  • Tons of Pockets

Cons:

Price

Overall, I would say that the biggest con for me would be the price.

If I hadn’t bought the freshly picked diaper bag via Kickstarter, I wouldn’t have bought it at all. When I bought it, I bought a bundle and received a pair of Freshly Picked Moccs, a Freshly Picked Tumblr & Straw, as well as, the Freshly Picked Diaper Bag.

The regular USD price converted to CAD plus shipping and customs brings the total to almost $300. NO thank you.

With that being said, I do know a shop that is local to us in British Columbia and you can purchase it for $230! That’s a great deal considering all the above

Shop here:

Little Bean Co

Final Thoughts

We all have different styles and looking for different things when it comes to a diaper bag. Freshly Picked is newer to the game (less than a-year-old) and you have to pre-order and wait 6-8 weeks once you purchase it. If you are willing to do that then purchase the Freshly Picked Diaper Bag.

Keep in mind that unless you have PO box big enough to fit a diaper bag (or if you are willing to travel across the border to avoid customs charges) expect to pay $35-$45 dollars in customs.

Most of my favourite diaper bag brands are in the USA. and I, unfortunately, don’t have a PO BOX so I’m usually stuck with paying those darn custom charges.

So what do you think? Did you want me to do a comparison between all three? Let me know in the comments!

Joovy Zoom 360 Ultralight | Jogging Stroller Review

Ever since I had Isaiah last summer, I’ve been wanting to take out our Joovy Zoom 360 for spins around the track.

Now that the sun has decided to come out and Isaiah is big enough to sit in our jogging stroller without the car seat; i.e can hold his head up and had good neck and head control, I can finally do that!

About the Joovy Zoom 360

Taking the boys out during the day has become a crucial part of being active and having a jogging stroller like the Joovy Zoom 360 Ultralight makes it so much easier.

The Zoom  360 is one of the smoothest yet solid jogging strollers around. The large 16 inch rear wheels can easily glide over uneven terrain and the suspension will minimize any bumps that your child may feel while you walk or run. The front wheel can be unlocked to swivel, which is super helpful when you trying to maneuver around town. It can also be locked for great stability for walking or running on straight, long paths.

What I appreciate the most is the easy fold and auto-lock! I love that it will stay folded and stand when folded on its own. Which means I don’t have to worry about it falling over or opening.

Features:

  • Weighs 26.25 lb
  • Carries a child up to 75 lbs
  • Off-Road Suspension; Front wheel  (12”) and rear wheels (16”) wheels
  • Swivel Front Wheel (The front wheel swivels or can be locked in place for faster runs)
  • Huge Canopy ( Baby is visible through the peek-a-boo window)
  • Mesh Pockets
  • Parent Organizer (included)
  • One-Step Linked Parking Brakes
  • Storage Basket
  • Tire Pump Included

Final Thoughts

We keep our Joovy 360 Zoom stored in our house for quick access. It is super handy to have when I want to take the kids out to play and want Abel to use up all his energy.  We usually head to the park or the track which are both walking distance from our home.
The Zoom 36o is perfect if you are active and want to bring your baby along with you on runs or take them out for a stroll around the neighbourhood.
With that being said, when purchasing a jogging stroller, keep in mind the area you live in and how you are going to use it.
If you are looking for a sturdy jogging stroller with great suspension then I would recommend the Zoom 360!

DIY Fathers Day Card

DIY projects are great to do with kids and for friends on gifting occasions such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Since Mother’s Day has already passed, we used our Stampin’ Up! products to create this super simple Father’s Day card.

I didn’t want to go over the top since I’m new to creating with my hands and can only do so much with the new skills that I have.

This is how I made it.

I took 1 piece of designer paper, 1 piece of cardstock and cut them into squares. Glued them together. Then I used the “apron” stamp from my “Apron of Love” photopolymer stamp bundle, pressed into my black ink and then pressed firmly onto my cardstock paper.

That’s it!

I can’t wait to get more items from Stampin’ Up! and get even more creative with my cards! Who knows, maybe you will even get one for fun?!

Summerland Waterfront Resort & Spa | Staycation in Summerland

The last time we visited Summerland Waterfront Resort & Spa was two and half years ago when Abel was 9 months old. Ever since then I’ve wanted to visit Summerland again!

The Okanagan holds a special place in our hearts. We told our family and friends that we were pregnant with Abel when we were in Kelowna. We also got engaged at the Resort and we frequently drive through on our road trips to Calgary.

Summerland Waterfront Resort & Spa

What really keeps bringing us back to the Resort is the view. The mountains, the lake, the air. We love it all.

45 minutes to Kelowna and 15 minutes to Penticton, Summerland Waterfront Resort & Spa central location makes for a great staycation in the Okanagan.

Anytime we want to get out of the city for a few days, we pack our bags and head to the Okanagan. Now that doesn’t mean we don’t love the City. However, sometimes we just need a change of scenery.

Summerlands warm beaches and bright blue skies are just what the doctor ordered!

This trip, however, we didn’t go alone.

My amazing friend Julie from Julie Christine brought her family along and we had an incredible time being neighbours for a couple nights!

To read about her experience head over to her blog Exploring Summerland

The Suites

At the Summerland Waterfront Resort & Spa, it’s the little things that make a difference such as iPod docking stations, Hypnos pillow top mattresses and sumptuous duvet bedding.

You have the choice of a Studio Suite, One Bedroom Suite and the Two Bedroom Suite.

All the rooms include flat-screen TVs with enhanced cable package and on-demand pay-per-view movies. Which is great when you and the family need to wind down at the end of the day.

We stayed in the  Two bedroom lake view suite. Each Lakeview suite features a walkout patio or private balcony and an amazing view of the Okanagan Lake. Can you say stunning!?

The Resort also has a great pool and hot tub, which I was able to enjoy the last night before we headed home.

Final Thoughts

We definitely came home feeling rejuvenated The Resort is approximately 3-5 hours away from home (depending on how many stops we make). It was so relaxing enjoying the slow pace that the Okanagan offers you. We live in the City so it is constantly go go go and we rarely get to rest.

Knowing that slow living is just a few hours away, Okanagan and Summerland Resort & Spa continues to be our favourite place for a quick getaway!

5 reasons why you’re being restricted on Instagram

Recently, Instagram has been cracking the whip on us Instagram users. If you don’t already know, Instagram users are restricted to how many likes, comments, follows and unfollows per hour you can make to block out spam accounts. Being restricted on Instagram is the worst!

5 reasons why you’re being restricted on Instagram

I believe you can only like 350 pictures per hour and your “following” limit is maxed out at 7500.

Now, this may seem like a far cry when you think of the “normal” Instagram user. However, social media has become a job in itself, and a lot of companies use Instagram as a marketing tool. I know for me, commenting and liking (aka interacting with my followers) is of HIGH importance to me and too many other bloggers.

Recently, I was “blocked” from captioning my own photos and replying to comments for one week!!! Now, a few of you may think it’s funny…but it wasn’t. Instagram fuels my blog. From monthly page views, daily page views, engagement percentage, and all that nifty stuff we bloggers work hard at keeping high were drastically affected that week.

SIMILAR: How to Create an Instagram Landing Page | Link Tree Alternative
restricted on instagram
IMG_7229

So, this got me thinking. Why was I being restricted to simply liking photos? I wasn’t doing anything out of the ordinary.

After some research, it came to my attention that I wasn’t the only one getting blocked from commenting on Instagram. I had other Instagram users and bloggers contacting me about this and vice versa. We all shared the moments leading up to getting locked out! We were all trying to figure it out what could have triggered it so that we could prevent it from happening again.

As I predicted, all our answers were different. So I decided to make a list for all you snazzy Instagram peeps so it doesn’t happen to you!

KEEP YOUR COMMENTING TO A MINIMUM

This includes how fast per minute you are commenting. As I mentioned before, I LOVE to interact with my followers, by replying to their comments and showing them some love on their personal pages, which means I comment A LOT. However, after this incident, I have been reducing my replies and bunching them all into one huge comment. I.E. If 30 people comment on one photo, I may group them into 3 groups of 10 instead of replying to each person individually. It may seem impersonal, but this is what’s working for me as of now and I am yet to be “blocked” again ?

WATCH OUT FOR YOUR HASHTAGS

Unfortunately, there has been some major misuse of certain hashtags pertaining to moms on Instagram, i.e. #momlife, #mom #mommy, etc. This is causing Instagram to block the accounts that use these certain hashtags. Always make sure to “research” your hashtags before making them a permanent hashtag that you use on any future photos.

KEEP YOUR FOLLOW FRIDAYS TO A MINIMUM

This one is specifically for bloggers. It turns out Instagram isn’t a fan of these. I have no idea why and don’t see the issue but with Instagram, you can never be too sure!

DONT OVER TAG

This is a zinger for me since many giveaways that I enter require you to tag friends for “extra entries”. I too, use this method to attract more entries. After 16 tags you are restricted from commenting or tagging for a few minutes (usually up to 10 minutes). Don’t quote me on that though, as I’m not 100% sure of this time increment since I personally haven’t timed it out. TIP: I’ve noticed, if you spread out the tags throughout the length of that particular giveaway, you can trick Instagram to let you tag more than 16 Instagram handles!  So pretty much don’t go crazy all at once! HA! which leads me into….

DONT OVERDUE THOSE GIVEAWAYS

Ok, seriously, I know how hard it is to resist those giveaways! Who doesn’t love free stuff? With that being said, make sure to choose the giveaways you really want to enter and can’t say no to! Why do you ask? Because Instagram blocks and even shuts down pages that overdo it on the giveaways! There are different ways to spam your friends guys, Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, etc. Instagram isn’t the only giveaway outlet ?

So that’s it my loves! I wish I could provide more detailed information about this but overall, I learned a lot about Instagram through this experience! When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade!
xoxo,

Even after all her struggles, she always has a smile on her face. Looking at the glass half full and not half empty. Pouring her love into her children’s cups though hers could use some TLC.

5 Road Trip Essentials When Travelling With Children | #PlaytexMoms #ForBetterBeginnings

When it comes to travelling with children, especially in a car, let’s just say that I love to prep and pack for all the “What ifs!”. You know all the road trip essentials.

My kids are sure to get hungry and when I have all three of them all lined up in the back seat, snacks are my best friend. As a #Playtexmom I’m always looking for ways that create a calm yet efficient state for the boys.

Travelling With Three Children

We recently went on a four-hour road trip to Summerland, BC.

Now, 4 hours isn’t the longest we’ve travelled VIA car, but it was the first time travelling with all three children. (8 months old, 3 year old and 10 years old) for that amount of time.

The last “road trip” we went on was two years ago to Calgary, AB. Which is 12-13 hours long depending on how many stops you make!

This time, however, we had an unruly preteen, who gets agitated when he’s around his little brothers for too long in a tight space. A whiny toddler, and an 8-month-old baby who doesn’t want to sit.

Cue the dramatics.

The Twist ‘n Click™ Snacker

Well, one thing I learned was that you can never pack too many snacks. Give me all the snacks!

The Twist ‘n Click™ Snacker from Playtex Baby™ is easytohold and has soft plastic which makes it easy for the boys to get quick access to their favourite snacks.

You Twist ‘n Click™ it onto the base and you’ve got yourself a snack catcher. Twist on the lid and, voila! Bonus: it’s dishwasher safe and spill-proof.

Liquids

I like to pack a full range of drinks for all three boys. Water, juice, milk, you name it, it’s being packed.

Games

The easiest game that doesn’t require any packing and my personal favourite is “I Spy”.

Toys

Age-appropriate toys for all three boys will make their way into our car to keep them from fighting one another.

Electronics

After all the snacks are eaten, games are played and the boys just want some time to themselves, I’ll pull out the big guns. You got it, the LeapPad & iPad come out to keep them preoccupied when mom and dad some quiet time.

They don’t stay on it for too long because they have time limits – usually 30 mins. but in that time they get tired and they FALL asleep.

Our next trip is in August and the Twist ‘n Click™ Snacker from Playtex Baby™ is definitely coming along!
